In the coming months there are several big events taking place in Tokyo, including two new daily flights from U.S. cities, making travel much simpler. Here is a brief roundup of a few of the highlights to look forward to this winter:

New Flights to Haneda Airport: The first flights between New York and Chicago to Tokyo’s Haneda Airport will commence October 30. Nippon Airways will be the first airline to offer the direct flights, making it much easier for U.S. travelers who are visiting Japan’s capital. Haneda Airport to the city is only a 30-minute drive, while the previous nearest airport – Narita – was 90 minutes. Flights from the U.S. cities to Haneda will depart daily.

Sake Olympics: Top wine-rater Robert Parker will be taking his experience into the world of sake. He has organized a Sake Olympics, which will be held at the best restaurants across Japan, who will each be serving one of their top-ranked sakes. “Sake Week” will take place in December.

Chocolate by Aerosyn-Lex Mestrovic: The Argentinian artist will be collaborating with Park Hyatt Tokyo to create limited edition chocolates for Valentine’s Day. His art will be displayed in the hotel and the design will be printed on chocolate bars as a treat for the guests. Some of his work has been displayed at The Museum of Modern Art, The White House, and Art Basel.

Tsukiji Fish Market Schedules its Move: One of the “great food wonders of the world” is scheduled to move in early 2017 – after originally being planned to move in November 2016. The historical market and cultural landmark’s relocation has become big news in Tokyo.
