Northwest, Amadeus Postpone Day in Court

September 5, 2006 By: Mike Jaccarino Travel Agent

Northwest Airlines and GDS provider Amadeus agreed to postpone a hearing in U.S. Bankruptcy Court in which Amadeus had requested a judge to prevent the airline from moving forward with the imposition of per-segment booking fees. Amadeus says the two parties agreed to the postponement in order to allow for more time to come to an agreement. Meanwhile, Amadeus is telling its agency subscribers that it will reimburse them for per-segment surcharges incurred on Northwest and American Airlines bookings until further notice. The GDS provider had told its clients that it would reimburse them, but only on a temporary basis. The airlines began charging the fees Sept. 1.
