The living room of the Altered States suite boasts a view of the Strip

The hotel-within-a-hotel concept continues to flourish in Las Vegas (Mandalay Bay’s THEhotel, Monte Carlo’s Hotel 32, etc.), and with the opening of its all-suite HRH Tower in December, the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino has joined the party.

Travel Agent got a chance to check out HRH Tower during a recent swing through the city, and came away impressed with the sleek, upscale styling and spacious accommodations that still maintain the brand’s rock-and-roll spirit. It’s a more private, more refined atmosphere though—think of it as getting to live like a rock star who doesn’t trash hotel rooms. With its VIP check-in, new casino space, the Reliquary Sanctuary & Spa and Vanity nightclub, HRH Tower has an “exclusive” air about it.

Each of the 359 Standard Suites has an integrated wet bar, sitting area and suite bathroom with cast-iron tubs as well as a Sound Matters Sound Bar (an AMX 12-inch touch panel music system with iPod dock and playlists of over 2,000 songs) and two 40-inch Sony Bravia LCD TVs with DVD players.

The sleeping area boasts a white lacquer wall headboard with quilted leather and a custom stiletto light fixture that highlights the mahogany-and-leather sleigh bed. The designer bedding and blackout drapes made of raw linen silk with metallic sheers ensure a deep sleep—no matter how late in the day it is.

The 148-square-foot bath area is enclosed by drapes and tinted glass with black porcelain tile and Chinese marble accentuating the custom vanity, in-shower seat and cast-iron “Tea for Two” tubs.

Beyond the Standard Suites are eight Spa Villas opening to the pool areas, and seven Penthouses on the 16th floor offering panoramic views of the Strip and mountains. The view inside is pretty spectacular too, with such touches as glass-enclosed, walk-through showers for two (or more), dramatic flourishes in glass and marble throughout and private balconies with pools/hot tubs. Each of these has a unique but subtle theme that reflects its name, such as Altered States and Nirvana. While these suites are often held for high rollers, agents can inquire about booking them and other HRH suites by contacting  Travel Industry Sales Manager Katja Spitz at [email protected].

Construction on the private HRH pool area was still going on during our visit, but is expected to be completed this month so agents can start selling those poolside villas to their clients. This, too, will be a quieter, more refined area (for hijinks in the heat, guests can head over to the Rehab Sunday parties at the Hard Rock’s main pool and beach club).
