Hyatt Breathes Life in Many Ways in New Orleans, New YorkOctober 19, 2010 By: Melanie Gretchen
Anyone following the news five years ago remembers the curtains blowing out of Hyatt Regency New Orleans post-Katrina. Re-opening late 2011 after closing in 2005, the hotel's renovation is as official as any indication that the Crescent City is taking its success and running with it. Following its ground-breaking ceremony August 18, details of the restoration have only stoked our anticipation.
Located next to the Superdome and Champions Square, the Hyatt Regency New Orleans will be central to Saints fans during Super Bowl XLVII in 2013. However, the property, following its multi-million dollar renovation, has a lot more to offer than its location. As one of the last of the hotels to be re-opened post-Katrina, Hyatt Regency New Orleans is definitely one to watch for.
In a completely "new" way, Hyatt Hotels & Resorts introduced its plan to establish approximately 2,000 hypo-allergenic rooms in 125 properties throughout the United States, Canada and the Caribbean. In a collaboration with PURE, the company's Respire by Hyatt - Hypo-Allergenic Rooms are 98 percent allergen free to improve air quality toward a good night's sleep.
Tom Smith, vice president of rooms, in New York to introduce the concept, said, “Respire by Hyatt is a simple, but empowering initiative that we are pleased to provide to our guests.”
Smith was accompanied by Brian Brault, CEO, Pure Solutions, North America, complemented by a Hypo-Allergenic Room on wheels driving through the streets of New York earlier this week.
