ASTA Puts Agents in the Spotlight

Some travel agents will now be able to provide TV commentary, thanks to the Association of Travel Agents' new partnership with Associated Television International, producers of the TV series, "Laura McKenzie's Traveler." The cross-promotional pairing has ASTA agents offering tips and advice about featured destinations in each weekly episode. To be selected, agents must be a member of ASTA and have completed the organization's media training program, a spokesperson for the company said. Media training is held once a year. "ASTA has made a concerted effort to increase consumer awareness and to educate the general public about the benefits of using an ASTA travel agent," Cheryl Hudak, ASTA president and CEO, said in a statement. "Laura McKenzie is an energetic and highly regarded travel expert who is a long time friend of the travel agent community; we look forward to working with her to promote smart travel to consumers."
