Martinique Gets New AA Flights, First U.S. Hotel Set for 2011May 18, 2010 By: Joe Pike
On the heels of finalizing a deal for the country’s first U.S. brand hotel, Martinique capped off an exciting three weeks by announcing new American Airlines flights on Monday. Travel Agent was the first to bring you the news of the initial plans back in April of last year.
"Of course, this second flight is a tremendous upgrade over the previous once-daily service, which arrived well after dark into Martinique and departed at daybreak back to San Juan,” says a spokesperson for the Martinique Promotion Bureau. “No one likes to start their last day of vacation with a 5 a.m. wake-up call. Now with the new flight, visitors can enjoy more of Martinique."
Beginning this summer, American Eagle will add a second daily flight from its hub in San Juan, Puerto Rico to the Isle of Flowers. The new service begins July 2 and runs through August 24, commencing again November 4 and extending through to September 2011.
AA Eagle flight #4896 departs San Juan at 1:50 p.m., arriving in Fort-de-France at 3:45 p.m. American Eagle flight #4897 departs Fort-de-France at 4:15 p.m., arriving in San Juan at 6:09 p.m.
Also, in late April Carlson Hotels announced the addition of the Radisson Hotel & Spa Martinique. We first told you about these plans last year. The 175-room beachfront hotel is located in Schoelcher, on the eastern side of the island.
The resort will undergo a $10 million renovation beginning in mid-June and is expected to join the Radisson brand by the end of 2011.
