Alan Wong to Open New Restaurant at Grand Wailea

Grand Wailea, A Waldorf Astoria Resort, in cooperation with Chef Alan Wong, has announced the name of their new restaurant set to open in spring: Alan Wong's Amasia as the name of the new restaurant set to open in spring 2012 at the resort.

The restaurant will focus on small plates for sharing, including a sushi bar and a robata for grilled options. The bar will offer private labels and cocktails inspired by its transcontinental menu.

The former “Kincha” restaurant is currently undergoing a $2 million dollar renovation and will reopen under its new name in several months. It will be the third restaurant for Chef Wong in the Hawaiian Islands.

Chef Wong, honored with the James Beard Award for Best Chef of the Year for the Pacific Northwest, currently has two restaurants on Oahu: the original Alan Wong’s on King Street, a favorite of President Obama’s; and The Pineapple Room. He is a founding member of Hawaii Regional Cuisine.
