Seibu Puts Maui Holdings on Market

September 19, 2006 By: Camie Foster Travel Agent

The Seibu Group has put its 1,800-acre Makena Resort in South Maui on the market. The master-planned resort comprises the 310-room Maui Prince Hotel, two championship 18-hole golf courses and acreage zoned for future development. Seibu, which has owned the land south of Wailea for 30 years, says it is looking to take advantage of the current boom market in Hawaii real estate. It will be business as usual at the resort during any sales process, says Don Takahashi, president of Prince Resorts Hawaii. He adds that Seibu is retaining ownership of its other three resort properties in Hawaii, with Prince Resorts Hawaii continuing to operate them. These are the Mauna Kea Beach Hotel and the Hapuna Beach Prince Hotel on the Big Island, and the Hawaii Prince Hotel Waikiki on Oahu.
