Grupo Aeromexico Transported About 14 Million Passengers in 2011

Grupo Aeromexico, one of the largest intercontinental airlines in Mexico, recently reported that it sent a record high 14,334,000 passengers in 2011, representing a 20-percent increase from the year before.

In December, Grupo Aeromexico transported 1,296,000 passengers, which represents a nine-percent growth over the same period in 2010.

Grupo Aeromexico's capacity, measured in Available Seat Kilometers (ASKs), registered a 10-percent, year-over-year growth in December, and demand, measured in Revenue Passenger Kilometers (RPKs), grew 11 percent. As a result, the load factor for the month was 78.1 percent.

During the year, the  number  of  passengers  transported in  the domestic  market  grew  14 percent, while  the  number  of  passengers transported in the international market increased by 42 percent.

In 2011 demand (RPKs) increased 21 percent, surpassing the increase in capacity (ASKs) of 20 percent. The year ends with a load factor of 78.4 percent, 0.5 percent above the load factor of 2010.
