Travel Agent recently spoke with Martein van Wagenberg, general manager of Las Ventanas al Paraíso, A Rosewood Resort in Los Cabos and learned of some major upgrades clients can expect the next time they grace this luxury resort in Mexico.
The resort is currently in the process of rolling out new beach cabanas this month. There are three of them available, all offering full ocean views as well as a host of amenities including beach service, sunscreen, welcome drinks, access to plunge pools, lounge chairs and more.
“This was really an excellent option we thought for guests who perhaps have a garden view room but at least wanted a little taste of the full ocean views in a private setting,” Wagenberg says.
In January, Las Ventanas al Paraíso, A Rosewood Resort unveiled a dramatic new “desert oasis” spa, taking its original award-winning facility to new heights in a major transformation that creates a nurturing, indoor-outdoor experience in a verdant and tranquil setting. The concept of the spa as a “desert oasis” was accomplished by creating a dense, green canopy with 45 areca and date palms with spreading fronds. Thatched palapas, latilla screens and walls of vegetation further enhance the sense of protection and retain the intimacy and personalization that remain central to the Las Ventanas guest experience.
Stone pathways lead to eight treatment cabanas including two that are the spa’s first couples’ facilities. Each cabana offers an outdoor shower and a private terrace of small paving stones interlaced with grass – enabling guests to enjoy both indoor and outdoor treatments. The two new couples’ cabanas also feature a round outdoor bathtub for two - allowing couples to have an extended experience combining several treatments, bathing and relaxation.
“It was project that we had thought about for a few years and finally last year we just thought, ‘lets go for it,’” says Wagenberg, who noted that the spa upgrades totaled roughly $2 million. “The response has been amazing.”
Also, moving beyond its traditional “Baja- Mediterranean” cuisine, Las Ventanas Al Paraiso, a Rosewood Resortrecently unveiled a new menu back in April. With its new menu, rooted in authenticity and all things local, the resort continues to be the guiding leader of Baja California and Mexico’s luxury travel movement.
Under the helm of Executive Chef Fabrice Guisset and Executive Sous Chef Victor Palma, the new menu at The Restaurant reflects a deep sense of respect and admiration for Mexico’s culinary traditions, with ingredients and techniques that reflect the country’s long-history, its vast size and its many customs and eating habits. The entire culinary team was instrumental in the formation of the new menu as their family recipes and culinary secrets were transported into the kitchen of Las Ventanas and refined to present a menu that is both sophisticated and authentic.
“We always had a lot of different styles of food from all over the world, but we wanted to focus a little more on stuff that was coming from our area, more homestyle cooking,” Wagenberg says. “ The staff feels very proud of serving this kind of food and thinks the menu respects their tradition.”
