Top 10 Los Cabos Travel Trends for 2012

A new visitor survey by Starwood Hotels and Resorts reveals that family-friendliness, inclusiveness and authentic food are all qualities clients looking to travel to Mexico will be looking for this year. Here are the top ten trends from the survey:

Family Travel: Hotels are less expensive in Los Cabos than other resort destinations, meaning the area is set to draw value-conscious family travelers.

All-Inclusives: Another draw for value-conscious travelers, all-inclusive packages mean clients will know exactly what they are getting in advance.

Authentic Food: The survey shows that fresh, local and organic foods will remain a major draw for prospective resort guests.

Fitness: In addition to freshness, survey respondents also indicated a desire for low-calorie and nutrient-rich options when dining on vacations.

Destination Weddings: Reasonable travel and room costs make Los Cabos an affordable option for couples looking to get married on a white sand beach.

Hybrid Meetings and Events: Hybrid meetings allow some attendees to be present while others attend via videoconferencing.

Safety: Resorts in Los Cabos are gated communities, which, coupled with the area’s low crime rate, can make safety here a selling point for those “in the know.”

Education: Educational opportunities abound in Los Cabos, from a dose of history at San Jose del Cabo to the chance to learn about the plants and animals of the desert and ocean.

Voluntourism: The Sheraton Hacienda del Mar has partnered with Casa Hogar, which houses and educates homeless boys.

Spa Comeback: Spa treatments, which were cut from many business and travel plans during the economic tough times, were on many survey respondents' wish lists this year.
