Opera Monte Carlo Announces 2011-2012 Season

Jean-Louis Grinda, Director of Monte-Carlo Opera, has unveiled the company's new season:

Six works will be presented:

- "Mefistofele" by Boito to mark Monaco's National Festival from November 13 to 19;

- "L'enfant et les sortilèges" by Ravel and "La Navarraise" by Massenet from  January 10 to 27;

- "Mazeppa" by Tchaikovsky from  February 17 to 24;

- "Francesca da Rimini" by Zandonai, from March 15 to 23; 

- "Macbeth" by Verdi from April 22 to 28.

Some great names in opera are also on the bill:

- Nathalie Stutzmann, on December 9 and 10 with a "Vivaldi" evening;

- Elina Garanca on March 17, with a recital.

The Opera will be offering open days and will schedule new transmissions from the Metropolitan Opera, New York (October 29: Mozart's Don Giovanni, February 25: Verdi's Ernani, April 7: Massenet's Manon and April 14: Verdi's La Traviata).
