Strong Quakes in South Pacific

An earthquake measuring 5.8 on the Richter scale struck about 500 miles southwest of Dunedin on New Zealand's South Island, according to early reports by the Associated Press. Police in Dunedin said there were no immediate reports of injuries or damage, according to AP. This follows an earlier quake near Papua New Guinea logged by the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center, which is part of the National Weather Service.
