Amadeus and American Airlines Reach Interim Agreement

October 19, 2006 By: David Eisen Travel Agent

Amadeus and American Airlines Thursday signed an acting agreement, which will allow travel agents using the GDS continued access to American Airlines' content, without incurring segment surcharges through Nov. 2006. The two companies are still working on a long-term pact. "We are very pleased to announce this interim agreement with American Airlines," said Peter von Moltke, senior vice president of the Airline Business Group for Amadeus North America, in a company release. "Access to full content without the imposition of surcharges is critical to our travel agent customers." Retroactive to Sept. 1, the agreement designates Amadeus as a competitive booking source for American Airlines, giving Amadeus agents in the U.S., Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands, unfettered access to all publicly available American fares and inventory, without subjection to surcharges.
