Intrav Shifts Focus With Sale of Ships

May 9, 2007 By: Jennifer Merritt Travel Agent

Intrav on Wednesday announced it had sold its Clipper Odyssey and Clipper Adventurer ships to International Shipping Partners. Intrav said the move reflects the company's current business plan, which is to focus more strongly on the educational products offered by Intrav, such as its luxury river voyages and land and safari journeys. "This new strategy more closely reflects Intrav's pedigree and essential DNA," said Randy Durband, Intrav's president. Intrav will continue to operate small-ship cruises, as well as all scheduled Clipper Adventurer departures through February 2008. Intrav's Clipper Odyssey sailings, meanwhile, will continue through September. Intrav, a division of First Choice Expeditions, acquired Clipper Cruise Line in 1995. The company's new owner, International Shipping Partners, is a passenger management company based in Miami, offering such services as charters and ship conversions.
