Utah Tour Operator Allegedly Leaves Students in a Lurch

June 14, 2006 By: Mike Jaccarino Travel Agent

Utah investigators are probing a local tour operator for allegedly accepting payment from a group of school children heading to New York City and then failing to make all the arrangements, the Salt Lake Tribune is reporting. Tour operator Learning on Location accepted payment—between $1,700 to $2,000 per person—from a group of 84 students, teachers and parents from a Utah school and then only made some of the arrangements it had promised the group, the paper reported. The tour company declared bankruptcy. It never booked hotels or tours, like ones to the Metropolitan Museum of Art, Times Square, Fifth Avenue and the Empire State Building, the Tribune reported.
