Strike Threatens Panama Canal Expansion

The AP via News Republic reports that approximately 6,000 workers for the Panama Canal expansion project have gone on strike.

The workers want higher wages, safer working conditions and overtime and vacation pay they say construction consortium Grupo Unidos por el Canal has failed to pay. The company acknowledged in a statement that some data entry errors had occurred when the company switched payroll systems.
