U.S. Approves Canadian Pre-Screen Program

The U.S. Customs and Border Protection on Thursday began allowing pre-screened NEXUS cardholders crossing privileges to all land, marine and air points of entry where locations for NEXUS—a program similar to registered traveler—already exist. A joint program with the Canada Border Services Agency, NEXUS gives approved travelers faster processing at designated highway lanes at airports and marine reporting locations. Currently, NEXUS kiosks are available at Vancouver International Airport and marine locations in the Great Lakes and regions of Seattle. "Since its inception in 2002, NEXUS has grown to over 110,000 members, a tribute to the benefits that this program offers," CBP Commissioner W. Ralph Basham said in a statement. "I appreciate that NEXUS improves security while encouraging and facilitating cross-border travel and commerce between our two countries."
