State Department Extends Travel Alert for U.S. Travel to Philippines

The State Department has extended its travel alert for U.S. travel to the Philippines. The original alert was issued November 24, due to acts of violence in the Mindanao province of Maguindanao.

The State Department is still urging that U.S. citizens exercise extreme caution in Mindanao and the Sulu Archipelago. The current alert will expire February 28.
