Company Falsely Representing ASTA Revealed Online

The American Society of Travel Agents (ASTA) announced Tuesday anyone falsely representing an ASTA affiliation will be made by public on its consumer web site, []. Currently, Certified Travel Service, Inc. is the only one on the list, but an ASTA representative says more could follow. Certified Travel Service, based in Oklahoma, is the first on a list made available by visiting []. "Consumers and the travel community look to ASTA as an authority. The ASTA logo signifies a company's legitimacy as a member and their adherence to our Code of Ethics. It is a detriment to the entire industry when the logo is misused," said Cheryl C. Hudak, ASTA president and CEO in an ASTA news release. According to the release, any company that has misrepresented an ASTA affiliation will remain on the list until its misrepresentation is resolved to ASTA's satisfaction.
