Airlift to Cairns, Australia Increases; Local Hotels Offer Extra Nights

Good news for travelers headed to Queensland: Several airlines are stepping up service to Cairns from around the world, and one of the region's largest hotel companies is offering extra nights to cater to the expected increase in visitors.

Last week, Jetstar announced that it had increased its Japan-to-Cairns flights from four flights a week, adding an extra 4,500 seats a week into the Tropical North Queensland. The low-cost airline also announced the reintroduction of Auckland-to-Cairns service in early April. Several domestic routes have also been ramped up recently, including Jetstar’s Melbourne-Cairns route, Tiger Airways’ Melbourne-Cairns and Virgin’s Brisbane-Cairns.

Taking advantage of the increase, Mantra Group, which manages 11 Peppers, Mantra and BreakFree properties in Tropical North Queensland, is offering a third-night-free deal at several area properties, including a One Bedroom Apartment at Mantra Trilogy, Cairns; a Hotel Spa Room at Mantra Amphora, Palm Cove; and a room at Mantra PortSea, Port Douglas.
