The floods in Queensland are continuing to wreak havoc on cities and suburbs alike. CNN is reporting that three-quarters of the state has been declared a disaster zone after torrential rain brought the area its worst flooding in 37 years.
Ten people were confirmed dead in flash flooding Tuesday which swept through the town of Toowoomba (pictured right, courtesy of a Wikipedia user), about 80 miles west of Brisbane, the state capital, on Monday afternoon.
The BBC, meanwhile, is reporting that between 6,500 and 9,000 homes and businesses are set to flood in Brisbane. Streets are largely empty and families have moved to refuge centers in some areas, with the peak of the flooding expected on Wednesday and Thursday.
It is important to note, however, that Brisbane Airport is currently still open and operating. According to the airport's website, both Domestic and International Terminals are operating with flights still landing and departing on schedule.
