Joe Pike, senior editor for Travel Agent, was honored with the Best of the Best award at the Caribbean Tourism Organization (CTO)’s recent Travel Media Awards. His prize-winning story, “How to Sell LGBT Travel to the Caribbean,” which also won for Best Feature Article in a Trade Publication, explores Caribbean destinations and hotels that pursue the $200-billion market and provides tips and trends to those considering it. The story has its origin in a session organized by the CTO during last year’s State of the Industry Conference in Curacao.

“The Caribbean Tourism Organization cherishes its relationship with the media because of some new and other regular writers, who have written fascinating stories about the region for many years,” says Sylma Brown, director of CTO USA Inc. “Joe has been among the most prolific writers since he began covering our region 10 years ago and we have been privileged to both contribute to and observe his growth and development. Of course, we appreciate all the travel media [but] it is particularly gratifying to us when the judges select someone like Joe, who we know so well and is dedicated to sharing the real Caribbean experiences and opportunities with his audience.”
