American Cruise Lines has announced that its newest ship, now under construction at Chesapeake Shipbuilding of Salisbury, MD, has been named American Constellation. This ship is currently nine weeks ahead of schedule and slated to be delivered in April 2017.
The name, American Constellation, was inspired by the long line of American ships named Constellation who have represented and honored the United States, the cruise line said. The original U.S. Naval sailing frigate of 1797 and American Cruise Lines’ newest ship were both built in Maryland shipyards, and American Constellation will leave for its first cruise from Constellation Pier next to where the retired USS Constellation is docked.
Reservations for the inaugural season aboard American Constellation are being accepted now.
