European Waterways Debuts Hotel Barge Upgrades for 2011

AnjodiThis year, see the Old World by barge, following European Waterways' major refurbishment of its luxury hotel fleet for 2011's season. Touring Europe this season are newly renovated, 12-passenger La Belle Époque in Burgundy, sister ship L'Impressionniste traveling from Dijon down to Beaune and the eight-passenger barge, Anjodi, cruising the Canal du Midi.

This year, La Belle Époque will feature new bathrooms in two cabins, air conditioning and heating and dehumidifying systems, as well as new or improved electrics, soundproofing and plumbing. Sink into the cabins that have been fully redecorated and now feature new wood panelling, beds and bed linen, while barge-wide, enjoy the new carpets, curtains and brass lighting. On-land activities include wine tasting of Chablis wines at Saint Bris de Vineaux in the Bersan cellars and touring Flavigny sur Ozerain, where Chocolat was filmed.

Aboard sister ship L'Impressionate, enjoy the ship's new bathroom, seating within the saloon and beds and lighting throughout the barge. Cruise highlights include touring Hotel Dieu Hospice and Main Champy in Beaune and the 13th century Chateau de Commain.

Traveling the 300-year-old Canal du Midi, Anjodi has four newly fitted bathrooms, new bedding and soft furnishing. We like the itinerary's visit to the Ancient Roman city of Narbonne, featuring the Archbishop's Palace and color market, and the private wine tastings at Chateaux Guéry and Chateau Perdiguier.
