Puerto Vallarta
The new “Ever After Vow Renewal” package is an option for couples visiting a Dreams resort, such as this one in Puerto Vallarta.

Sometimes, it is best to stick with the classics. The Caribbean and Mexico are the ultimate getaways for a destination wedding or honeymoon, and for good reason. We take a look at some of your favorites for an update on what’s being offered in the world of romance.

Sandals Resorts

Sandals Resorts is raising the luxury bar for its newly married clientele through personalized honeymoon experiences at select Caribbean properties in St. Lucia, the Bahamas, Jamaica and Antigua.

The complimentary “Perfect Package” entitles honeymooners to chilled wine in room on arrival, breakfast in bed the morning after arrival and rose petals strewn on the bed at turndown. Note: To be eligible for this treatment, couples must check in online prior to travel and provide a copy of their marriage certificate within 30 days of travel.

Guests in the Bahamas and St. Lucia can opt for the “Sandals Luxury Package,” which includes a personal butler for the entire day, a private four-course candlelit dinner for two in the courtyard with wine pairing, in-room couples massage, dinner at Gordon’s on the Pier, one-day poolside chair reservation with beverages and snacks, sunset photo on the beach, private transfer from the airport and personalized robes. Note: This is available at all St. Lucia properties and at Sandals Royal Bahamian Spa Resort & Offshore Island.

Finally, we recommend the Sandals “Romance Package,” which provides a chauffeur and private car stocked with fruit, champagne and chocolate at the airport, breakfast in bed, rose petal bath for two, private couples’ massage lesson at the Red Lane Spa, couples’ champagne massage treatment, private four-course candlelit dinner on the beach, picnic for two, romantic sunset cruise and one complimentary 5x7-inch photo. Note: The Sunset Cruise is only available at select resorts.
