Four Seasons to Reopen in Nevis in December, Could a Sale be Next?July 14, 2010 By: Joe Pike
Four Seasons Resort Nevis representatives recently announced that the property will reopen on December 15, following a nearly two-year closing. But will a sale of the famous luxury hotel will be the next big news to come out of the resort?
The resort has been closed due to impacts from Hurricane Omar, which passed through the islands of St. Kitts and Nevis in October of 2008. In June, St. Kitts and Nevis’ Minister of State for Tourism Ricky Skerritt told Travel Agent that he expected the property to be sold shortly after it reopened.
“Once The Four Seasons is sold, things will begin to improve for St. Kitts,” Skerritt told us during Caribbean Week a few months ago. “It’s much easier to sell a property when it is open. When The Four Seasons reopens, we expect it to be sold shortly after. And this will hopefully mean only positive things for our destination. Whoever the owners will be will know how important that hotel is for tourism to the islands.”
But only time will tell whether that prediction will still hold up. For now, the representatives of the resort are celebrating the property’s long-awaited reopening.
“We wish to thank the community and our staff for their patience during this challenging period for the Resort and the island,” said Andrew Humphries, regional vice president and general manager for the resort, in a written statement. “We look forward to welcoming guests back to Four Seasons Resort Nevis and the tranquil and beautiful island of Nevis.”
The 196-room Four Seasons Resort Nevis offers exotic cuisine, top-rated golf, a spa, tennis and children’s facilities, more than 40 villas and estate homes for rental and an array of water sports and nature excursions.
