Singapore to Double Cruise Ship Capacity by 2010

Singapore’s cruise ship capacity will double once the new International Cruise Terminal at Marina South becomes operational in 2010.The facility will have two new berths, which will be able to accommodate all ship sizes including Royal Caribbean’s 5,400-passenger Genesis-class ships slated to begin rolling off the line in 2009. The new berths will complement two existing berths at the Singapore Cruise Center, which is only minutes from the new cruise terminal.

Jason Ong, area director, Middle East and Africa, Singapore Tourism Board, said the new terminal allows Singapore to better compete and to capitalize on the global growth of cruising. He hopes that Singapore will become the “Cruise Hub of Asia.” Visit www.visitsingapore.com.
