New Management at a Luxury Colorado Ski ResortSeptember 4, 2009 By: Michael Grisafe Travel Agent
As the summer ends, and a cool chill starts to fill the air, skiers and snowboarders are reminded that winter is just around the corner. Well, not really, but if you are a winter sports fan, it’s never too early to plan ahead.
Recently, Destination Hotels announced that it will manage one of the more popular ski resorts in Colorado-—the 59-room Hotel Telluride. A Western-style hotel located next to the nearby Telluride Ski Resort, the hotel often serves as a base camp for skiers seeking a bit of rest and relaxation in-between slalom runs.
Visitors to the hotel are able to see the San Juan Mountains from all of the lodge’s rooms, while being close enough to shop in downtown Telluride. And after a long day of skiing in the frost-bitten air, guests will be relieved to find that they can crash out on natural feather beds, down comforters, and 250-count embroidered sheets.
“We are excited to manage The Hotel Telluride as it’s a great fit for our portfolio with exceptional rooms, a personable staff and great amenities,” said Charles S. Peck, president and chief operating officer for Destination Hotels & Resorts. “We know our past guests will be excited to experience this new addition to our collection.”
No stranger to managing ski resorts, Destination Hotels adds this latest acquisition to a long list of snowbound properties. Starting 1973 with the opening of The Gant in Aspen, it’s portfolio quickly snowballed to include Snowmass, Vail, Squaw Valley, and Stowe, VT.
“We are extremely pleased to have Destination as the new manager of The Hotel Telluride, as they have tremendous capabilities and long experience in the ski-mountain luxury hotel space,” said David Jackson, president of Northridge Capital, owner of the hotel. “To those who have invested in The Hotel Telluride condominiums, we believe the affiliation with Destination will deliver long-term value. For our loyal guests, expect to receive the same high quality, professional service for which the hotel is well known.”
