Park Hyatt Beaver Creek Upgrades

December 18, 2006 By: Dan Butcher Travel Agent

Park Hyatt Beaver Creek (, 970-949-1234) recently announced a $20-million hotel improvement plan that includes the renovation of the Allegria Spa and the revamping of the hotel's public areas, meeting facilities and guest accommodations, due to wrap up before the end of the month. Colorado's Park Hyatt Beaver Creek

In addition to the spa renovation, 15 fractional ownership units will be added to the only branded Park Hyatt Resort in the United States. These new units (nine with two bedrooms and six with three bedrooms) are an indication of the growing trend in fractional ownership.

Plans call for the Allegria Spa at the Park Hyatt Beaver Creek to double in size to 30,000 square feet. The new spa has a large menu of body treatments, including the "Aqua Sanitas" (or "healing waters") heat and water therapy treatment. This "water sanctuary" has a heated, scented mineral pool and Caldaria and Tepedaria custom steam rooms.

Many of the 23 new treatment rooms are designed for specific treatments such as couples' massages, the popular Ashiatsu barefoot massages, hot stone massages and Swiss shower treatments. Two deluxe treatment suites offer private steam showers, changing areas and massage tables for two. One has a granite soaking tub for two while another offers side-by-side Vichy showers. Balconies or fireplaces are found in treatment rooms throughout the spa.

The enlarged fitness area introduces "kinesis," a new method of conditioning developed in Italy. Without the interference of cables, kinesis incorporates a 360-degree rotating pulley system that enables free and natural movement on three planes.

There's also a separate yoga facility, Pilates studio and poolside stretching room. In addition, the Park Hyatt pool deck has been expanded and enhanced.

Throughout the expansion period, Allegria continues to service guests with alternative spa and fitness facilities. The spa director is Mary Ellen Welch; she can be contacted at 970-748-7500 or by emailing [email protected].

Improvements continue into the lobby, with conceptual changes intended to create a warmer and more open atmosphere. The leveling of the floor in Antler Hall allows the views of Beaver Creek to be the centerpiece of the space.

Improvements are also planned for many public areas and over 20,000 square feet of flexible meeting space. Whiskey Elk, the Park Hyatt's lounge, will add high-definition TVs and billiard tables.

The travel agent liaison at the property is Kendra Powell, the concierge manager; contact her at 970-827-6581. For VIP special requests, contact General Manager Scott Mason at 970-827-6545 or email [email protected].
