Sunshine Village in Banff, Canada, Opens Freeride Zone

skierSunshine Village Ski Resort in Banff, Alberta, Canada, has opened its Delerium Dive freeride zone following multiple mid-season snowfalls as well as work by the resort's on-mountain team.

“Through the excellent work of both our ski patrol and snow safety teams, we are pleased to announce to guests the opening of our internationally recognized advanced terrain,” said Dave Riley, chief operating officer, Sunshine Village Ski Resort.  “The opening of Delirium Dive, coupled with last week’s opening of the Wild West, is a glowing testament to Sunshine’s emphasis in providing guests an exceptional big mountain experience.”

Delirium Dive is off the summit of Lookout Mountain and has over 2,000 feet of vertical, a 40 degree average pitch and over 600 acres of terrain.

Like all of Sunshine’s freeride zones, the following safety requirements are mandatory for access: Travelers must carry an avalanche transceiver, shovel and probe and must have a partner with them who is similarly equipped and competent in using the above-mentioned equipment.

The resort also provides guided programs for expert skiers and snowboarders through Sunshine Village Ski and Snowboard School.
