Iberostar Grand Hotel Mencey Reopens Following Renovation

Great news from Spain: Iberostar Hotels & Resorts has announced the official reopening of the historic Mencey Hotel in the Spanish city of Santa Cruz, Tenerife (in the Canary Islands) as the latest addition to the brand’s Grand Collection. The Iberostar Grand Hotel Mencey is now fully operational, following an extensive $32 million in improvements.

The hotel is located in an exclusive residential area of Santa Cruz, directly in front of the famed Garcia Sanabria botanical gardens. When it opened in 1950, the property attracted such guests as the Spanish Royal Family, Elizabeth Taylor, Sofia Loren and Joan Miró.

Some of the new additions to the hotel include a spa with serene water ritual pools and relaxation areas. Additionally, the property’s gardens have been expanded to nearly 22,000-square-feet, where an outdoor pool, bar and solarium are located. Furthermore, the “Casa del Duque” - an individual estate located within the hotel grounds - has been acquired and transformed into an exclusive space dedicated for events, featuring direct access to the botanical gardens. Guests of the hotel are also provided complimentary access to the Casino de Santa Cruz, also located on the grounds.
