The New York Times recently named Sri Lanka as the number one destination for travelers in 2010 on its list of 31 Places to Go in 2010. This honor could not have come at a better time for the country as it looks to rebuild its tourism industry since the quashing of the Liberation Tamil Tigers of Eelam, one of the world's terrorist organizations.
Why We Like Sri Lanka
The country, a small island in the Indian Ocean, is a fusion of the old world and the new. It combines ancient heritage sites and local cultural festivals with luxury beach hotels and spas. Travelers to Sri Lanka can have the best of both worlds - roaming the local markets in the morning, feeding baby elephants in the afternoon, and a five-star spa treatment and gourmet meal at night.
Voluntourism is also popular in Sri Lanka and, considering the devastation of the 2004 tsunami, this is a good spot to recommend to clients looking to give back to a community. Travelers can work to help local families, preserve the environment, protect endangered wildlife and cultural heritage.

Ignore all negative comments from LTTE supporters who live away from Sri Lanka. Most of they haven’t gone there for years. It is an absolutely beautiful country with friendly people. You go once you will love it.

just visit and see the wonderful island..judge by yourself..
you can find any kind weather..cold or warm weather..beaches..you can go to any kind of place,weather within hours.
wildlife, ancient cities older than 1500 years.

Sri Lanka could have been a paradise. However, India threw out these people who call themselves the Lion Race. These so called aryans gradually forced out or absorbed the Vedas (indigenous population) and then infested the south part of the Island. Since then they have been trying to force out the Tamils through barbarism. This is the culture they are proud of.
They are being egged on by the so called Buddist Monks who take part in riots but won't actually fight in the army because they might have to sacrifice their lives. In fact Sri Lanka's 1st prime minister was shot by one of these useless unemployables. They are so stupid that they don't relaise that Buddha was a Hindu prince and Buddhism is a sadhana within the many hindu practices.

It is still the peral of the Indian Ocean. A great nation, Great people, multi national, Multi relegion community live in pease and harmony....

Just returned from a tour to Sri Lanka..definitely the most beautiful country in the world, I have travelled to more than 15 countries and Sri Lanka is the best yet..! People are very nice and friendly and this country has unspoilt natural beauty and a culture..A must go destination for people who know how to enjoy good things in their life..!

Dear Indian, If you know who created this blood bath in SL, Its BIG YOU. your government maintained & gave all facilities to terrorist camps maintained in your home land Tamil nadu ( Tamil Land ),India to un stabilize Sri lanka to avoid it to be a best place to visit in Asia. Supporters of the totally defeated terrorist organization, the LTTE (who had carried out more suicide bombings than the Al Queda, Hamas, and the Mujahideen taken together) seem to be making malicious remarks about the country. Although there seems to be some collateral damage of the war, extreme and malicious claims are being propagated by these people being unable to come to terms with their lost cause of a mono ethnic Tamil state. Even though search operations are still being carried out in some enclaves of the north east of the island to dig up weapons buried by defeated terrorists, authentic security clearances have been made by responsible governments to tourists.
