For Dale, Moving On Is Nothing New

June 28, 2010 By: Staff

terry daleIn the aftermath of Terry Dale’s resignation as president and CEO of CLIA last week, the big question has been what’s next for the executive who held the top position at the cruise industry association since 2003 (the other big question is who will replace Dale when his resignation takes effect in December).

We caught up with Dale at the Luxury Travel Expo advisory board meeting in New York last week, and he told us that he has no immediate plans for his next job. “People have asked me where I’m heading, if I’ll return to New York,” he said. “I’m not limiting myself. I’ve always thought about living in Hong Kong, for instance, and there seems to be some opportunity there.”

It won’t be the first time he has left a position without having another job already firmed up, Dale added, and acknowledged that he has been contacted by several parties looking to discuss his future.

No successor has been named yet for Dale— or for any of the other industry association leadership posts that are currently or soon-to-be vacant. ARC president and CEO David R.B. Collins announced his retirement last week, effective June 2011, while the USTOA seeks to fill its top slot following the death of President Bob Whitley in May. ASTA has yet to announce a permanent replacement for CEO Bill Maloney, who resigned suddenly in March.
