New Hotel to Open in Sweden Before Gothenburg Film Festival

A new hotel in set to open in Gothenburg, the second largest city in Sweden, at the end of January. The new Clarion Hotel Post is a listed former post office from the 1920s that has been restored and extended into a 500 bedroom hotel. The original grand hall and high ceilings have been kept intact.

The hotel also has a trendy rooftop pool and bar, indoor spa and the Norda Grill & Bar restaurant, managed by New York-based chef Marcus Samuelsson.

The hotel will open on January 26. The next day, it will host the official launch of Scandinavia’s largest film festival—the Gothenburg Film Festival—from January 27 to February 6 at various venues across the city, including Draken at Järntorget.

Showcasing more than 450 films from 70 countries, the festival will have a strong focus on Nordic films, as well as on Arabic films, delving into the lives of those involved and affected by the current political situations across the Middle East.
