Taipei Welcomes New Le Méridien

April 19, 2011 By: Deanna Ting

Last December, Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide, Inc. opened the doors of its newest hotel in Taiwan, Le Méridien Taipei, in the city’s Xinyi District, and now, it is promoting the luxury property to travelers based in the U.S.

The 160-room Le Méridien Taipei is artistically driven, and features a comprehensive contemporary art program, “light and shadow. “Inner Waves 01,” an artwork created for Le Méridien by artist Hisham Bharoocha, is featured prominently at the hotel entrance and is one of more than 700 art pieces to be found throughout the hotel. A Le Méridien Unlock Art program includes an artist-designed key card collection, created by LM100 member Michael Lin; the key cards also grant complimentary access the nearby Museum of Contemporary Art Taipei.

The hotel also houses two new restaurant concepts: My Humble House (Cantonese) and Latest Recipe (international); an innovative coffee and chocolate café ChocoArt; and a lobby lounge bar, Latitude 25, as well as the hotel’s destination bar, Quube. In addition, it also offers nearly 18,300 square feet of meeting and function space. The hotel also features an indoor heated pool, sauna, Jacuzzi and well-equipped health club.
