Amadeus Names Marketing Chief for North America

Industry veteran Scott Alvis has been named by Amadeus to the newly created position of chief marketing officer - North America. In his new role, Alvis will be responsible for marketing and product strategy and execution in the U.S. and Canada for Amadeus’ business areas of distribution, airline IT and new business (which includes hotel, rail and airport IT initiatives). Alvis will report directly to Scott Gutz, president and CEO of Amadeus North America, and will be based out of Amadeus’ Chicago office.

Alvis joined Amadeus in March 2010. He served as senior vice president, client management, for Amadeus’ airline IT and distribution business group. In the near term, Alvis will also continue to coordinate airline distribution and IT activities, including content agreement negotiations with North American carriers.

Previously, Alvis held several senior positions at Sabre Holdings, including president and general manager of SynXis. He also served as senior vice president, enterprise marketing, where he led Sabre's corporate strategic planning, pricing, market research, usability lab and innovation disciplines. Alvis also served as senior vice president, sales & marketing for Sabre.

Alvis earned an MBA with honors from Cornell University’s Johnson Graduate School of Management and graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Duke University.
