Amadeus Strengthens Rail Business

Amadeus has named senior rail executive Thomas Drexler as director of rail, Amadeus. Drexler was vice president of sales at Deutsche Bahn, where he held commercial roles for the last eight years. Previously,  he worked at Lufthansa in online sales, Lufthansa IT Services and also for two years at Start Amadeus (currently Amadeus Germany) in corporate development and strategy.

The appointment follows the company’s recent establishment of a new businesses division, led by Francisco Pérez-Lozao, to invest in the company’s diversification and grow its hotel, rail, ground transportation and airport IT businesses.

“We welcome the technology, business and leadership expertise that Drexler will bring to Amadeus,” commented Pérez-Lozao. “His combination of experience in the travel distribution, airline and rail industries is rather unique and makes him an ideal person to lead Amadeus Rail in times of rail deregulation and intermodal travel.”
