TripIt Mobile App Usage Increases

TripIt, the mobile trip organizer from Concur, says overall mobile usage has doubled - and Android usage has tripled - in one year among its users. In addition, 20 percent of travelers now use TripIt exclusively on their smartphones.

In 2011, new native apps were launched for iPad and Windows Phone; editing features were added to iPhone; and Android went through two design refreshes, the latter of which is now available in version 1.9. In addition to the Webby Award for "Best Mobile App" in the travel category in May, TripIt was named "Favorite App" in The Telegraph Travel Awards on October 25.

The next phase of TripIt's Android App facelift is available for download in the Android Marketplace, designed to help travelers find important trip information quickly. In addition, now travelers who add notes to their itinerary will be able to click on links and phone numbers in their notes to quickly make a call, right from the app. By request, users now have the option to preserve memory when they're not using the app, and TripIt Pro users can customize reward point expiration alerts.

"It's exciting to watch mobile adoption take off this year, as innovation in the industry heats up," said Gregg Brockway, executive vice president and general manager of TripIt.
