Boy Dies After Riding Disney Rollercoaster

June 29, 2006 By: Mike Jaccarino Travel Agent

A 12-year-old boy died after riding the Rock 'N' Roller Coaster at Walt Disney World today, according to a statement released by the resort. Few additional details were available, but CNN reported Thursday afternoon that the boy, whose name was not released, was unresponsive after the conclusion of the ride. He was then taken by ambulance to a nearby hospital, where he passed away. Walt Disney World officials said park officials closed the attraction pending an investigation. According to a release, the company said, "an initial review of the attraction shows the ride was operating normally." The park's website boasts that the Rock 'N' Roller Coaster will "zoom from 0-60 with all the force of a supersonic F-14, take in highspeed loops and turns synchronized to a specially recorded Aerosmith soundtrack."
