Disneyland Debuts Fairy Tale Suite, Holidays, Cars LandNovember 11, 2010 By: Melanie Gretchen
Disneyland rings in the holiday full-force this year, with the presentation of the Fairy Tale Suite at the Disneyland Hotel, the release of the Disneyland Resort Vacation Package and the opening of
Fairy Tale Suite
Part of the hotel's expansion, the Fairy Tale Suite joins the Mickey Mouse Penthouse, Big Thunder Suite and Pirates of the Caribbean Suite. The 750-square-foot suite features a marble foyer leading into the bedroom overlooking the Disneyland Resort through floor-to-ceiling windows. Disney characters adorn the suite, Tinker Bell at the entrance and the Sleeping Beauty Castle mosaic in the bathroom. We like the royal canapoy bed and steam shower and Jacuzzi tub featuring chromo-therapy.
The expansion, scheduled for completion by 2012, will include new guest rooms, a pool and water play area featuring monorail-inspired slides, a new restaurant, bar and enhancements of the hotel’s existing main pool. During this time, the midcentury style of the hotel will be restored, built in 1955 after the park first opened.
Disneyland Resort Vacation Package
Up until December 1, clients can take advantage of a $300 savings on a four-day, four-night Disneyland Resort Vacation Package at any Disneyland Resort Hotel, for travel by December 16. Savings include 30 percent off the room rate at Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa, 25 percent off at Disneyland Hotel or 20 percent off at Disney’s Paradise Pier Hotel.
Guests staying at any of the three on-site deluxe hotels will enjoy the properties decorations, entertainment, holiday cuisine and special offers. Included in the package are preferred seating to some of the popular shows and attractions and Disneyland Resort Park Hopper tickets, as well as a Magic Morning admission into Disneyland one hour before the park opens to the general public and a ‘Key to the Magic’ card, which clients can use to charge meals and merchandise to their hotel account.
During the holidays, hours are expanded and returning seasonal attractions including the holiday transformation of "It's A Small World," Haunted Mansion and "It's A Bug's Life." The "CALIFORNIA" letters at the park's entrance will become swirling red and white peppermint sticks, and "A Christmas Fantasy" parade will feature Santa Claus who will also be at the Paradise Pier Boardwalk at Disney California Adventure Park and at Santa’s Reindeer Round-up in Big Thunder Ranch, Frontierland, with real reindeer grazing in a corral.
Evening activities will include World of Color, Disney's new water spectacular at Disney California Adventure Park's Paradise Bay and snowdrifts and icicles garnishing Sleeping Beauty’s Winter Castle. A castle presentation will feature the 60-foot tall Christmas tree in Town Square, lit by over 62,000 LED lights nightly, culminating in the park's "Believe ... in Holiday Magic" fireworks show, a rendition of "White Christmas" and a snowfall over Main Street, U.S.A., "it’s a small world" Mall and New Orleans Square.
On Friday, October, Cars Land's "Topping Out" Ceremony marked the completion of the highest point of steel construction on the land's Ornament Valley rock work in Disney California Adventure Park. Slated to open in 2012, inspired by the Disney Pixar film, "Cars," the 12-acre area will welcome guests to "take the off-ramp" into the movie's Radiator Springs setting.
Three attractions will include the E-ticket ride, Radiator Springs Racers, taking visitors through the Cars Land landscape. Luigi's Flying Tires will ring a bell with anyone familiar with the Flying Saucers in Tomorrowland, and Mater's Junkyard Jamboree will feature a square dancing with baby tractors pulling Mater's junkyard trailers. In addition, Cars Land will feature food and merchandise locations inspired by the film's landmarks, including Flo’s V8 Café, Radiator Springs Curios and Cozy Cone Motel.
Other additions to the park include ElecTRONica, inspired by the upcoming movie, "TRON: Legacy," and The Little Mermaid - Ariel's Undersea Adventure set for 2011 and Goofy's Sky School, inspired by the classic boardwalk "wild mouse attraction."
