Classic Journeys Introduces Montenegro Walking Tour

MontenegroOn the Adriatic coast, in Eastern Europe, Montenegro is Classic Journeys' newest destination. Debuting in May 2011, the six-night, seven day tour will include the mountain village of Kolasin, the bay city of Budva and Koto on the Adriatic. Four more trips will follow in June, July, September and October, all of which begin at $3,895 per person, double occupancy (land only) and include all breakfasts, four lunches and five dinners.

Created in 2006, Montenegro has a history dating back to the Romans through the Middle Ages and the Ottoman Empire. Starting in the capital city of Podgorica, following a short walk, tour groups will visit Moraca Monastery, featuring 13th century frescoes. On the way to Kolasin, where you'll spend two nights, you'll stop at a private botanical garden. Then, you'll drive through Tara River Canyon and explore the shores of the glacial Crno Lake (Black Lake), before a family of shepherds will welcome you into their huts for lunch.

During two nights in Budva on the Adriatic, you'll have a chance to follow the trail through the valley of ancient mills. A private launch will take you across Lake Skadar to the seaside resort of Sveti Stefan, where Boris will introduce you to mosaics via a demonstration.

Over two nights in Kotor, you'll have a chance to explore the medieval streets and browse the shops of the area then cruise out to a tiny island. Through the olive grows, olive grower Ilija will invite you into her farmhouse for an olive oil tasting. At the end of the tour, the farewell dinner will take place at one of the country's best restaurants.
