CNN Praises Travel Agents

January 31, 2012 By: Adam Leposa

In a continuation of the good press travel agents have enjoyed since the end of 2011, CNN has posted a story praising the time savings travel agents can provide when booking complex travel, as well as taking a look at the state of the industry.

Like many other media outlets, CNN highlights an agent’s ability to book on-the-ground activities that are important to their clients.

"One of the biggest values of a good travel adviser is understanding what's important to you and being able to provide options you hadn't thought of," Virtuoso CEO Matthew Upchurch told CNN.

At the same time, the CNN article also points to a key advantage agents have over online travel agencies: time.

"The average traveler is spending something like ... nine web sessions and visiting 21 websites in order to book their travel," Mark Orwoll, an editor of Travel + Leisure magazine, said to CNN.

CNN also noted that, while the travel industry was hit harder than most at the start of the recession, it also rebounded faster.
