United States airlines carried 369.5 million passengers on domestic and international flights in the first six months of this year, according to the Bureau of Transportation Statistics. Domestic passenger traffic increased slightly, by 0.2 percent, over the first half of last year, while international traffic rose 6.8 percent. The number of domestic flights was down 5.2 percent, reflecting airlines' strategies of reducing domestic seating capacity to fill planes. International flights were up 2.6 percent.
