CWT Achieves Record Sales

March 30, 2007 By: Travel Agent Central Contributor Travel Agent

Travel management company Carlson Wagonlit Travel enjoyed a lucrative 2006, making what it called "major progress" in its four lines of business: program optimization, safety and security, traveler and transaction services, and meetings and events. The company's total sales volume reached $17.6 billion last year, a 22 percent increase over 2005 and a more than double increase over its sales volume since 2003. The U.S., Australia, Russia, China and India experienced the greatest sales volume growth, respectively. CWT attributed the increase to client retention and new sales, which included clients from Navigant International, which CWT acquired in early 2006. "The acquisition of Navigant International was a great milestone," said Hubert Joly, president and CEO of Carlson. "We couldn't be happier about the progress we're making with the integration, where our approach has been to combine the best of both companies."
