Gulf Crisis: U.S. Travel Will Release Study on Oil Spill Impact
July 20, 2010 By: George DooleyThe U.S. Travel Association will announce this week new data on the long-term economic impact of the BP oil spill on travel in the Gulf region as well as policy recommendations for recovery.
Included will be Oxford Economics' release of a first-ever disaster impact predictor based on previous crises, including Hurricane Katrina and the Exxon-Valdez oil spill. U.S. Travel's "Roadmap to Recovery" will highlight specific proposals government should embrace to protect the Gulf Coast and mitigate damage in future disasters.
