Hawaii Hoteliers Log Record-Setting May

Hawaii hotels posted two records for the month of May, thanks to a strong luxury segment, according to the latest monthly survey released by Hospitality Advisors. Average daily rate (ADR) statewide was up by 13.2 percent from May 2005 to $172.66. Another key indicator, revenue per available room (RevPAR) also climbed by 11.6 percent statewide to $130.57. Statewide, luxury hotels saw an 8.8 percent increase in ADR, up to $271.88, while upscale lodgings also recorded a 10.9 percent uptick in ADR statewide to $165.07. Maui led the pack in May in terms of occupancy and ADR, at 80.1 percent and $216. Of particular note is Wailea's 20.6 percent increase in RevPAR to an average $263.81.
