Hawaii Hotels See January Softening

March 5, 2007 By: Camie Foster Travel Agent

Hotel occupancy statewide dipped by 6.3 percentage points in January, impacted by a 5.7 percent decline for the month in visitor arrivals, according to Hospitality Advisors' latest Hawaii Hotel Flash Report. Properties across the spectrum logged declines in occupancy for the month, but both average daily rate (ADR) and revenue per available room increased. Maui hotels led all islands in occupancy and ADR, posting 76.5 percent and $255.44, respectively. "While bookings look comparatively softer going into the second quarter, hoteliers are hopeful for some pickup going into the summer season through introduction of value-oriented campaigns," says Joseph Toy, president and CEO of Hospitality Advisors.
