Hawaii Posts Record May Visitation

Visitors to Hawaii in May set a record for total visitor days, spending 4.97 million days in the islands, according to the latest data released by the state Department of Business, Economic Development and Tourism. Visitor days in May climbed 3.6 percent compared with May 2005. The growth is thanks to record arrivals from the U.S. of more than 425,000 travelers. For the first five months of the year, domestic arrivals are up 3.9 percent, outpacing the overall growth in total arrivals of 2 percent.
