Kenai Fjords Wilderness Lodge Offers Interactive Cooking Class

MealThe Kenai Fjords Wilderness Lodge, the only accommodation located on Alaska’s Fox Island, is offering guests the opportunity to enjoy an interactive cooking class.

Lodge chefs will educate guests on wild Alaskan seafood with a focus on the five types of salmon caught in Alaska. With classes lasting less than an hour, visitors will learn the basics of handling and cooking salmon bellies, one of the most flavorful parts of the fish. Guests will be given complimentary recipe cards to take home with them, where they can practice their newfound culinary skills.

Wild Alaska salmon — catching it, preparing it and eating it — is a big part of the Alaska experience,” said Dee Buchanon, Director of Marketing for CIRI Alaska Tourism Corporation. “Our chefs are able to share so much about Alaska and our way of life just by teaching guests about our seafood.”

The 3,300-square-foot main lodge, which recently reopened last summer, features a hands-on demonstration kitchen. Chefs previously tested an interactive guest program in the new kitchen last summer and took into account the guest feedback to create this complimentary interactive cooking class.
